Oh, I've read those too. Wasn't V.C. Andrews the one that wrote 'Flowers in the Attic', etc.? John Saul writes really good mysteries, and the gothics are some of my favorites as well. I'm sort of an eclectic reader.

Yes, it was V.C. Andrews who wrote "Flowers In The Attic". I really get into her books. Marion Zimmer Bradley is another author I really enjoy. Yes, John Saul does write some really good mysteries.

I thought it was she. I've read several of her books - would you call that the 'gothic genre'?

I read one VC Andrews book when my daughter discovered her. She was an early teen at the time and as any good mother does, I always read what she read to make sure the content was ok. The book disturbed me so much, I couldn't read any more of that series. When Flowers In the Attic came out in film, I couldn't get through that either. I know that stuff happens. Just too difficult for me to watch or read.
An old boyfriend introduced me to Dean Koontz and I continue to read him. I have also read a couple of Bradley books too.

I have an autographed copy of Dark Rivers of the Heart by Dean Koontz. He signed it, "To Marcia, Boo..." which made me think I didn't want to read it! LOL. Maybe I should finally see what it's all about.

I think her books are definitely of a darker nature, Mark, and perhaps they could be put in the gothic genre. I can see where they would bother you, Maria, but I can definitely read her books before I can a Stephan King novel. Now I know Stephan King is very popular, but I just cannot read his books. I have tried to read a few of them, but can never seem to finish them. I have read the "Flowers In The Attic" series as well as a couple of others that V.C. Andrews wrote though. I've read all of the Arthurian based series that Marion Z. Bradley wrote as well as some of her other books. I have been told that her "Darkover" series is quite good as well, and perhaps will check them out sometime this Summer. It's all a matter of taste. Would be boring if we were all reading the same thing.

Started Linda Fairstein"s Death Dance. Seem to be getting a lot of serial killers and wackos in my books lately.

I missed my library day last week and now have nothing to read. Well unless you consider Time magazine and clothes and gardening catalogs. :-)
