One of this weeks films was last years remake of the classic Oliver Twist. I rarely find remakes as good as the originals - take Charlie and the chocolate factory for one, and this film was another that failed to meet the expectations of the original masterpiece.
I'm not saying it was terrible - I'm just saying it isn't as good as the original - they hardly ever are, a bit like sequels. The storyline is close to the original - without the addition of any songs which loses part of the appeal for me.
My rating 3 out 5 OK but nothing special

I'm not familiar with the film, Dave, who made it and who are the actors?

Mark the film was out last year sometime (just befroe Christmas I think) and starred Ben Kingsley (Fagin), Barney Clark (Oliver) & Ian McNiece. It was directed and produced bY Roman Polanski and was a remake of the old time favourite (here in the Uk at least).
