Well as ya' all know, I have never posted a Pet Peeve before. However, I really am peeved and feel this is a good place to vent. When I got home today, I found that my home had been broken into. Not only did the thieves steel every pieces of jewelry I own, including family pieces and a somethings my mother had just given me when I was in California this past week but they also ransacked my place. Every door to anything and every drawer was opened. Things were tossed all over the place. I know I should feel lucky I wasn't home for the invasion. I wasn't hurt. I have a place to sleep. My house wasn't burned down. I have much to be thankful for. BUT I hope whoever did this gets a big payback. As you can tell I am feeling more than a bit peeved.

I am as sorry as I can be that this happened to you, Maria. I know that if I caught hold of the little miscreants they'd be singing soprano from then on. I hate this type of personal violation. I hate it, I hate it, I hate it!!!

THey took away the safety of your own home. Such a nasty violation. One that is very hard to overcome. The rape of your home is so personal. I'm so sorry. And vent in here as often as you like.

Thank you for your kind words. I really appreciate it. I spent a good part of this morning going to pawn shops. It isn't that I think it will do any good but you can never tell. I left my name and phone number at many places. I also let all my neighbors know about it. Most of the people on my block are all professionals and work full time. There are a few retired people around that sort of keep on eye on things. However, the back of my house is really hidden from everyones eyes so it could happen again. Last night I barely slept thinking of those rats. I have also spent another good part of the day washing everything. I don't want even a single dead skin cell from them around. OK I know I am weird. But washing everything makes me feel better. My son came over to put new and stronger window locks on. Very nice but they didn't come in through a window. They came in through my French doors on the back deck. Oh I can hear Dave and Mark making remarks about the French. ;D Again thanks for the concern. That really does make me feel better.

Well, the concern is sincere. Like Sandy said, vent all you want - I know how it is to feel violated. And, BTW, they should be called "Freedom Doors", shouldn't they? Anyway, take care....think about getting an alarm system or something like a large, hungry dog.

A friend of mine had a break in in her apartment years ago. They ransacked everything. She burnt all her underwear. Said she would never have been able to wear it knowing they touched them. And washing didn't help. So vent away.

God, that's terrible, Maria! It really is terrible when they break into your property. But they say what comes around goes around. Whoever did this will get what's coming to them! Louise

If I got hold of them they'd not do it again, that's for sure.

You go Mark, just take them out for me.
Since Friday night, I have only been able to sleep for about 1 1/2 hours then I wake up thinking I am hearing noises. I am hoping tonight will be a good night of sleep. I guess I am not as alright as I think.

Maria, it takes a lot to get over these things. I'm so sorry this happened to you, but I thank God that you weren't home when it happened. I shudder to think about that! Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you!

Yes, indeed they are. I get so mad when bad things happen to good people - particularly when they are friends or family - or, as in this case - both.

Thanks again for your support. As I drove into my drive-way after work, I was so hesitate to enter the house. I know this is weird but I was afraid of what I would find. Although the doors were all still closed and secured, I was still frightened. When will I get over this silly fear? I did sleep through the night last night. I think not really sleeping for several nights just plain wore me out. I went to another pawn shop today. Still no luck in finding anything.

Your feelings are normal. You will eventually get better. I hear it's a slow process. When animals get their safe place defiled they pick up and move. It's not that easy for us so called humans to do that. I am sure you considered it. In time your fear will lessen but never go away. Some of your trust has been badly trashed. Please continue to talk about your feelings. It helps. We here can listen, maybe not understand completely, but we can listen and give you support when it's needed. Take care.
