I decided. I decided today was the day. Today I will write the next great American novel.
With that in mind, I collected my paper and pens. Yes pens. No pencil for this person. I'm going to be able to do this and will not need an eraser or to cross out any words. I know exactly what I'm writing. Get it right the first time is my motto.
Clean sheet of paper. Deep cleansing breath and here I go!.
"Amos knew this wasn't a good idea when he started. Now everything is a shot to heck. "What do I do now?" he asks. "I can't go back! Looks like I'm stuck here in this place everyone forgot"
Then nothing. That was it! I was stuck too. Really stuck. This writing stuff is hard!
Okay, I'll give it a rest and think about it for a bit. I'll take a break, have a glass of lemonade and try to figure out who and where Amos is.
I have taken on a project on monumental proportions! After a nights sleep. Not a good sleep either. I was trying to dream up who Amos was all night. First, he was tall dark handsome and capable. Next he was blonde, piercing blue eyes, dimples and built like a Greek god. Then he became an auburn haired, rugged outdoor type. My fourth Amos was brown haired, brown eyed and your everyday hero.
Man! Who knew just trying to get a fix on the main character would be so hard? I haven't even gotten to the main plot yet. And what about supporting characters? Who are they and how many?
OH MY GOSH! who knew? You really have to work at this stuff. Writing is work! Hard work.
Maybe I'll start my great American novel tomorrow. Today, I have a headache.
