What exactly is a lifetime warranty? I have several products with these claims. Recently on a skillet with a lifetime warranty I found out it wasn't that long. The company quit manufacturing the product making the warranty null. I have a lifetime warranty on some replacement windows. It is good til I sell the house. Other lifetime warranties are very vague. Do you think they really mean it or is it just a ploy to get you to buy and think that you have a good product?

I suspect that Lilfetime Warranty is a gimmick. Nothing more.

In the UK, "White goods" should last a minimum of five years, but on other electrical products "lifetime" means until they give out!!!

My watch has a lifetime warranty and I often wondered how they base this, is it my lifetime or the life of the watch?? It was originally my mother's watch so maybe it only covers her lifetime???! I'm sure if anything went wrong it wouldn't be covered by the warranty anyway since it would be plain wear and tear which is not covered - so I wonder what is covered? Generally if things go wrong it usually happens quite soon after purchase when it would fall within any warranty so I agree that a lifetime warranty is a gimmick.

I'm sure you're right, Sue. Once they have your money that's pretty much it, I'm sure, with but few exceptions.
