I'm a fan of the humble cucumber and think a cucumber sandwich is the bees knees maybe I do have royal blood after all)... Anyway I'm proud to inform you that I am about to pick my first cucumber of the year, and it won't be the last. Indeed our humble (grown from seed) cucumber plant is bearing a nice lot of fruit and lucklily in different stages.
Our tomatoes are also ripening up now so I guess it's salad time!

Well I left it a few more days after writing the piece above and the cucumber was huge - the biggest one I have ever seen. And I am pleased to say that I now have several rapidly growing ones soon ready to pick..

Great Dave! I love cucumbers, although I don't ever remember eating a cucumber sandwich. I like to pick the little ones and eat away, adding a smidgeon of salt after each bite.

I think I'll stick to cucumbers in my salad, but I do like the occasional banana or tomato sandwich, if I am making a 'fruity' sandwich.

Hmmmm Ilove Banana and peanut better sandwiches. When I was in California, every single day I had a fab tomoto sandwich. Tomoto was straight off the plant. So yummy. And I like cucumber sandwiches too. . . with a bit of dill and a little mayo. Now I want lunch. LOL

I like banana and peanut butter sandwiches as well. I'm not sure I would like the cuke sandwiches though. I've had cucumber slices as additions to sub sandwiches, of course, but by themselves? I just don't know.

Yuck, it does sound revolting, Dabbit. How about cucumber and peanut butter? That sounds pretty bad too, though tomato and cucumber might not be so bad.

Ok Tomato sandwiches get a slice of onion and some Miracle Whip. Bananas get peanut butter. Cukes get sliced and made into all sorts of salads. And beetroot is left to grow.

Miracle whip? I shall never forget my father in law putting TRIFLE in between two slices of bread a trifle sandwich - now that is not right surely?
My own father loved bread and always used to put his dinner between slices - whatever it was pie, peas, potatoes you name it

Ah, but banana sandwiches are also good with mayonnaise, and peanut butter good with jelly, as well, and tomato with bacon and mayonnaise, boy...this is making me hungry!

BLT's the best. But I also love peanutbutter with bacon on toast. Mircle whips tastes so very chemical to me that I cannot use it. Although I know people who swear by it. AND NOW it is my lunch time.

IMHO, nothing beats Hellman's real mayonnaise. Never thought about PB with bacon, and even though I can feel my arteries hardening at the thought, it does sound interesting.
