Use this area (thread) for practicing the methods of posting pictures, playing with the various codes, making tables, whatever. It's your own sandbox and nobody will laugh at you as we are all learning!

I have Open Office too. I'm not talking about Microsoft Office or any of it's programs. If you click on Start, then Programs, then Accessories, you will see a program listed, named 'Notepad'. Which is just what it really is - a notepad. Notebook is something else entirely, but 'Notepad', comes with every Windows system.

By the way, the Open Office software that Sandy mentioned is totally compatible with Microsoft Office, with one major exception - it's FREE! I've been using it for years and love it. You can download their program suite, at www.openoffice.org/. I highly recommend it.

Mark, if one has microsoft office, why download another program? You know I know nothing about computers or software, so please excuse the question. What is the difference?

Microsoft Office is a suite of programs which costs beaucoup bucks. To buy newer versions you pay another big 'upgrade' fee. Open Office is comparable, even better in some ways than Microsoft Office, costs nothing to start with and upgrades also are free. If one already has Microsoft Office, why change? Well, how old is that Microsoft Office that one has? Does one want to pay to get a newer version of it? What if one got a new computer that didn't come with this software.

It has the equivalent of those, yes. It can't use the same names, of course, as they are copywrited, but the same functionality.

???I don't have any "office". Should I? Well, the "tags" on here don't work the same as in my email. ] Anyway, now I've forgotten why I came here...............Oh,yes. I have a printer/scanner. Love to print out things. Can anyone explain how to scan so I can send pics in email, etc.? Or how to "upload" things. Or maybe I should wait on that. I see where I can bookmark this thread. I will do that. Because I don't know where I am. And don't know why anyone else would be here reading this anyway. Pam aka Tarradiddle p.s. I think it's great to have a practice area. Never had the opportunity before. ;D I love smileys.

Anyway, your scanner should have some software that came with it - you have to start up that software and then just place the photo on the bed of the scanner, face down and tell it to scan - probably through the software. Usually there is a command in the software - something like 'Acquire' or something like that. What kind of printer is it, manufacturer, model number, etc.?

You have to advance to the next page now - there's a little box below here to change the page...
