Yesterday I was downtown for a meeting. I was standing at a corner waiting for the light to change to green so I could cross the street. Right at the same corner, was a vendor with a flower cart. Or should I say selling flowers. A little lady, who looked about 90, stopped to admire the flowers. When the fellow selling the flowers asked her if she would like to buy something in particular, her response was that even though she would love to buy them all that she was on a fixed income and barely making it. Thus she couldn't buy anything. The two chatted a bit. As the light changed she said good by and was starting to walk. The vendor halted her. Then gave her a big bunch of flowers. Isn't that just wonderful? The lady was so surprised and had tears in her eyes. Who says there aren't nice people around?

I bet most people see or hear nice things or 'good news' daily. I hope everyone shares one of their GOOD somethings. People talk about how depressing the news is, so let's start our own GOOD NEWS column.

OK here's my 'nice bit of news': Our postman knocked at the door having to delivery a parcel - it just so happened I had a brochure for train holidays he had to deliver too. Anyway we got chatting and he said he was off to Austria/Switzerland/Germany for a two train holiday in two weeks time. he then said he had DVD's of the train journeys and would lend them to me when he got home.
It was a nice little chat which did in fact brighten my day, so Maria you are right the little things often mean a big deal.

Quite true, Dabbit, one just has to be receptive - there are many good souls out there. I bet most people see or hear nice things or 'good news' daily. I hope everyone shares one of their GOOD somethings. People talk about how depressing the news is, so let's start our own GOOD NEWS column. That's a good idea, Maria!

If only we coule look at the positice side in everyone all the time - there must be some good in these customer service reps who keep you holding on for what seems like hours...

Beats me, Dabbit...must be some good, but I'll be darned if I can see it in unhelpful customer service reps - and I use the term 'service' loosely. These companies seem to take fast food rejects, give them a customer service title and say "Go to it!".

He has been delivering my mail for a bit over 10 years. We chat over our pets and family members. When I am lucky enough to be home when he is delivering, we always have a smile and greeting for each other.

My mail carrier is a female so can't be called a mailman or mailfemale which sounds daffy, so the PC term in vogue here is 'Letter Carrier".

My mailperson told me once he thinks of me every morning when he is drinking his tea. Every chance we get we keep caught up on our families. The worse specimen of service reps are the ones from India. Man can they heat up my collar! Mostly though I have had good results with service reps. Right now I am trying to get in touch with JWin and they seem to be untouchable. Haven't gotten ready to get even yet but I'm close. Why don't we have a good news column? Should I put this in Pondering?

You probably haven't noticed yet - there's a modify button if you want to change something you've posted. One of the first things I learned on the forum and one of the features I've used the most! Anyway, we've talked about the Good News thing before, and Maria started a dialogue at Good News but it's seen very little activity. I also built a little website at The Good News (the link for which is elsewhere on the forum as well), but it's not seen a lot of activity either. None of the info I sent you on Jwin was of any use? Sorry...
