I have this information listed in my "misc. good stuff to know" thread, but since I've been asked several times how to do this, I guess no-one reads my informational threads So I'm reposting it here, for everyone to see. KEYBOARD CHARACTER CODES When typing up a recipe on your computer, rather than writing out the word "degree" you can make the ° sign by holding down the "alt" key and typing 0176 on your number board to the right hand side of your keyboard. Here are some others that may be helpful to you in typing out recipes: 0176=° 0188=¼ 0189=½ 0190=¾ For a more complete list (including accents for foreign languages and currency symbols), two websites of reference I use are: tlt.its.psu.edu/suggestions/international/accents/codealt.htmland www.rmhh.co.uk/ascii.htmlYou should also be able to access a character map by going to "Start", "Programs", "Accessories", "System Tools", and then "Character Map".

Thanks, Josie-Lynn. Don't forget, if you're using a laptop, you probably do not have a separate numeric keypad, so will have to resort to other measures such as the character map or else omit the special character.
