In the UK there is 'apparently' a new trend, the trend is to have a 'swine flu party'. Yes parents are organising parties an inviting people who think they might have the swine flu virus to attend! They are hoping the 'protection' the children gain by being exposed to the virus will protect them from attacks in the future!
Whilst I can sort of see where they are coming from, I personally think this is a highly dangerous game. Recently a young girl died in the UK who had swine flu, and was suffering. If you are going to get it, then you will regardless of prior protection! I certainly do no think 'swine flu parties' should catch on. Where will it go next 'HIV parties?'

That sounds ridiculous, Dabbit. Not only is the strain of the virus that causes the Swine Flu deadly, but they might inadvertently cause the virus to mutate, and even if this were not to occur, the virus could begin muting spontaneously on its own. A dangerous game they're playing, indeed. What's next? Binge-eating parties to avoid becoming Bulimic? Or, as Dabbit says, HIV parties?

It is daft isn't it? As you say the virus could mutate into something more sinister. Additionally, if you had swine flu (assuming symptoms are similar to those of flu) would you really want to go to a party with a heap of noisy children?

While I think we might be a little over cautious closing schools if a couple of children become sick, I still think the sick should stay home and not pass it on to everyone else. A party is ridiculous.

Apparently our Government are now saying it can no longer be contained in the UK and they plan to treat only those who actually have it and not shut schools etc any more.
