In addition to everything else I have recently cutback on my time for the central heating to be on by two hours (on ein the morning and one in the evening). In addition we rarely now use our tumble dryer - opting instead to dry our clothes on the airer. We also switch everything off stand by and remove mobile charger plugs..
I feel I am doing my bit can I do more?

Yes, I like that bit about removing the charger plugs, because they will keep on drawing a 'trickle' current although the phone or whatever is being charged is not plugged in or has already recharged to capacity. We have switched to the CFL (Compact Fluorescent Light) bulbs from the incandescent ones and turn off unnecessary lights. Consolidate errands trips to reduce total miles driven. Recycle all recyclable materials. Raise the thermostat in summer and lower it in winter. Buy 'recycled' or at least 'recycled packaging'. My plans are to buy a hybrid automobile when it is time to trade cars. In short, I feel we are doing 'our bit' as well, at least as well as could be done.

We use energy bulbs they are specially designed to use less energy by only going to full brightness after a minute or two, actually sucking less energy up, and lasting much longer. When they were first introduced they were quite expensive but have come down in price enormously now. Luckily we got all ours free from the energy companies when we switched supplier
