Personally, I'm glad they fired Imus. I've always found him to be annoying and it appears he has a long history of making degrading remarks. However, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson should now take on all the rap artists with the same venom they used to go after Imus! Rap songs reach many more impressionable listerners than Imus ever did. If they don't, they're hypocrites.

I agree that Imus is and has always been unbearably obnoxious and annoying. And this so-called 'Gangsta Rap', IMHO, shouldn't even be allowed to be broadcast. It seems as though the sponsors that pay for that type of programming are just as culpable as the ones that sponsored Imus, yet there is no uproar. Al Sharpton had no problem denigrating the Lacrosse players at Duke University when they were wrongfully accused and charged with rape, but has he apologized for that? Yes, he and the 'reverand' Jesse Jackson are hypocrites. They seem to only want to speak their minds when it suits their own purposes and/or shores up their own political bases. In real justice and fair play they seem to have little if any interest. Anyway, that's my opinion.

I have never liked Imus because of his hateful humor--if one can call it that. I have never liked mean jokes at others expense. But as with many shock jocks, they seem to be nasty people. Now do I agree that he should be fired for the terms he use? No because all you have to do is listen to certain music and those terms are used all the time. I think black leaders should be concentrating and getting better images out for the black community and not 'gansta' crap where it is cool to be anti education, kill the cops and women are hos. Terrible.
Now Imus could be fired for his mean spiritedness but the big corps liked the money he brought in. Now they want to run from him.

You're so right, Mark. Sharpton never did apologize to the wrongfully accused Duke students!
In my early morning zeal yesterday I found Sharpton's email address and wrote him what I thought. Dang thing bounced--his inbox was full. I'd have written Jesse too if I could've found an email.
How does any parent tolerate their kids listening to that gangster crappola?? Seems parents have abdicated their authority to the kids these days!

Sharpton and Jackson both have a lot to apologize for. Poor leaders for their race. Imus has a lot to apologize for also. But should he lose the job he was hired for because he was doing what he was hired for? No. If he should be fired there are plenty of other people who should lose their jobs. I do not admire the affliates of Imus for firing him. THey only did so because their sponsers were pulling their support. As for the girls on the basketball team. What are they doing paying attention to a low life? They should be celebrating their victory!

It was blown way out of proportion as these things usually are. People looking for nits to pick for their own agenda. It's really shameful.
