I took on a pair of kittens at the weekend, one of whom is a delightful little soul. I said I would take them partly because of my concerns at how they were being reared.
Unfortunately they were not litter trained and had been eating totally inappropriate food for 8 week old kittens.
I cracked the problem of the litter training, thanks to the advice I recieved on here from Jo, Sandy and Dave. They are now using the litter tray.
Pepsi is still having a mamoth sulk though, and I am still a little undecided about whether to keep them.
If they do stay I will take some pics of them and post them here.

Pepsi will get over it, eventually, just make sure that you give him/her special attention, so as not to give the impression that these cute little fur balls are replacing him/her in your affections. Our "eldest" (since past) used to freak every time we brought another cat home...but within a couple of weeks, and once he had let them know he would tolerate no kitten like nonsense, he would be back to his usual self. Glad we were able to help with the litter situation!

Well, the kittens are still here, just! They wake me up about six times a night so I am a bit grumpy, but they have settled in well. I have called the boy Tazer (Taz for short) and the girl Lulu, much to my sons' disgust, *g* Pepsi is allowing them to sniff him, so progress is slow but at least its progress.

When we first got Fudge Bea (our late cat) hated her and couldn't be in the same room together, however as time progressed they not only got to be in the same room they shared the sam bed...

Good luck with those kitties, Fluffy - they can be a challenge. We've rescued dozens of the little darlings and they are all unique. Most we kept until we found homes for, but 8 or so we kept as long as they lived. Each was different, but worth the effort it took to train and care for.

Well, the kittens have been here for a few weeks now. They are growing nicely and are v.lively! On Wednesday I am taking them for their first lot of innoculations, which should be fun but quite expensive. I just wish they would learn to sleep at night and not during the day!!

I know what you mean Jane expense and Vets are always in the same sentence!! As for training them to sleep at night - that could be a tad more difficult...

I thought our council were bad but at least they do empty every week (unless they happen to bypass us)...We have our recycled waster collected one week (2 bins) and the non recycled stuff the following week

I suspect most councils will change to fortnightly collections, but I think it will be awful come the hot summer months.

Even with the wheelie bins (do you have them?) ours gets covered in flies (particularly the two recycled ones)...And we clean them once a month too with the pressure washer...

Our refuse is picked up twice a week and a separate run is made once a week for recyclable materials. Mind you, the funds paying for this come out of the city's coffers which are derived from taxes we pay for purchases, property tax - a tax levied based on the value of your property and so forth. Taxes are rather high here, so I guess we get what we pay for. There's no way to win, really.

Poor little Lu has been quite poorly this week and it all necessitated a couple of trips to the vets to sort things out. I am now £70 poorer as a result, with each consultation costing £22 and then antibiotics etc on top. I am happy that she is a lot better, just broke!

Sorry about Lu, fluffy. My poor Charley is still seeing the veterinary eye doctor, about $400 expense so far over a two month period. But, he's worth it.. ;D

Well, we are responsible for their having becoming so domesticated and dependent on us, aren't we - we owe it to them as a species. Charley is like the child I never had, anyway.
