That's the problem with labels. IMHO, if you have some views that are 'very conservative' then you can't really call yourself a liberal. What I was trying to say, but which I don't seem to be able to explain very well was that the term 'liberal' has been hijacked by the extreme left, who never have any 'very conservative' views. That's why, if I had to apply a label to myself, (which I never do) it would have to be 'moderate' which is more or less an 'average', if you will, of the range of viewpoints. I have some viewpoints that some people would call 'extremely liberal', for example, but that I would just call logical and reasonable. Conversely, some of my viewpoints might be characterized for some as 'extremely conservative', but which I would just call logical and reasonable. It's the labels I dislike, as they are seldom accurate and most people that I have known that apply labels to themselves do so inaccurately, or for some purpose, such as a political agenda - "Hey look at me, I'm (select one - Liberal/Conservative/Moderate) vote for me and everything will be rosy!" See what I mean? One cannot be open-minded and wear a label - that simple.

Good luck, Dabbit. I wish you all the luck in the world - I know that not only are such 'associations' sometimes not run well, but occasionally there are 'bad apples' in that "proverbial barrel" who have, shall we say, less than idealistic motivations for what they do or don't do.

What makes it worse is that it's a charity for people with special needs and they are supposed to be supporting him/they not making their life difficult

Update: We've won and the housing association have admitted a problem on their part and agreed to terminate his tenancy as of today! We'll need to have a meeting on Monday regarding any rent he may owe

Colour me confused. You won, but he's lost his tenancy? I guess I misunderstood the problem - perhaps it was another 'senior moment'.
Pardon me while I beat my head against the wall... ;D

That is better, Dabbit. I think I understand better now. The issue was not whether he was granted housing at all, but its quality, facilities, etc., right?

Bureaucracy, in any country is the root of many problems. Between incompetency, complacency, apathy and corruption, us ordinary folk have a rough row to hoe...

Oh let me explain -sorry about the confusion - call it a British moment! Anyway in his old place he was told he owed £420 in rent arrears AND had to give 28 days notice on his tenancy. Anyway I found he's old tenancy agreement which stated a 7 days notice period was required, so confronted the management of the house. They informed me that in fact Nathan had signed a new one which stated 28 days, I asked for a copy and when she got it out the page which stated the 28 days notice had been removed and was notin his file. This in turn meant they had no legal footing at all and she knew it so rung up head office who agreed to terminate his teanancy that day providing he gave in his keys.
However they suggested that he was in arrears of rent by £420 - something I seriously doubt as a few weeks ago he was in credit! So that barrier is still to be got over. Hopefully I've explained things a bit better
