accepting a dinner date with a man I have only talked to on the phone. I sort of know him from a long long time ago. I'm wondering if I should say something to my daughter before I leave. Only because she lives close by and she is used to me always being home. I really do not want to say anything but also don't want to cause her undue concern. What should I do?

What are you woman or girl? Woman go out to dinner. Yes let your daughter know you will be gone. You don't have to tell her who you are going with. After all you are the mom.

Sandy, I would go out and have fun. Go ahead and tell your daughter that you have a date and act like you are excited about it. To be safe, meet him at the restuarant with your own car. That way you will not be in a vehicle alone with him. Also, if the dinner is a disaster, you can excuse yourself to go to the ladies room, come back to the table with the excuse that you just received an urgent phone call and have to leave quickly.

I agree with Alex and Cat both. Go for it, but use caution - give yourself a way out in case he turns out to be some sort of weirdo.
