A friend in the USA is 50 in December so along with a Christmas gift I have packed the items up in a box measuring 32cm x 32cm x 11cm and weighing just 2.4 kg! So off I trot to the post office to send it. I was told it would cost me 5p short of £60! I declined and thought I'd find cheaper online (which I have at £31.31), however cheapness comes with a price. They need to have three copies of a commercial invoice, on this invoice you need to state each item in the pack, in addition you need to state where each item was made, plus the cost of the items! So having gone through the order to the penultimate section they then ask me for the recipients telephone number (like I ring them every day!
Anyway Moan Over I Am Now Waiting For The Email To Let Me Know The Number - So Fingers Crossed, It Might actually Get Sent Before Christmas!

It's probably much cheaper to make an order online to a stateside outfit, such as Amazon.com, and have it delivered there. Often, shipping is free.

I did that last year Mark but as there was a 50th birthday involved I thought I'd do it from good old Blighty! Not again - LOL it is proving a real nightmare...

It can get that way at times, unfortunately. I usually opt for the simplest way possible.

Latest on the parcel to the USA saga. I have given up trying to send it and instead had to opt for buying the gifts at Amazon and having them delivered from there. This was due to the fact in the small print the couriers won't accept parcels to the USA with perishables, and although the items had more than a year and half shelf life they were still classed as persihables. Oh for an easy life...

Nothing is easy, Dabbit. We're busy trying to finalize plans for a two week holiday in the UK. The hotel prices are outrageous, particularly in London, but fairly high in other parts of the country as well. Any suggestions as to "must-see's"? We've never been to England at the same time, so this will be a first. Perhaps we should plan an Exascape party...we'll all meet in London, LOL.

London hotel prices are outrageously high, particularly in central London! As for things to see I think the Lake district is beautiful and worth a visit (though it is far from London). I also fancy Cornwall (again a distance from London) though I haven't been there it looks gorgeous on the TV (though hilly) When do you plan to come mark?

We're thinking about the first two or second two weeks in October, Dabbit.
Yes, I had thought about Cornwall, supposedly my father's side of the family came from that area, and the Brett side came from the Somerset and Dorset areas, but I don't want to spread myself too thin trying to do too much in a fortnight.
