Marie is as the title informs you - a true story. Marie escapes domestic abuse to raise her children (one of whom is sick). She soon gets into politics and eventually became the appointed Head of the State Parole Board of Tennessee. She quickly discovered that the state government was riddled with corruption and became a whistle blower, leading to the imprisonment of corrupt Governer and other officials. Marie was a heroine, and this is her story
I love true stories (mostly anyway) as they always add that extra edge for me, and this was no excpetion a recommended film to watch

Thanks, Dabbit. Sounds like a winner - I'll keep an eye out for it. Funny that - we have an ex-governor of this state in prison at this very moment. I suppose there're a lot of temptations for graft and corruption in government. Sad, really.

It is Mark particularly when you think they elected because people 'trust them'. That said I think more and more people are waking up to the fact that the more they have the more they want

They are indeed, greedy, Dabbit. I guess I've never been that greedy. I was born with nothing, and still have most of it left... ;D

LOL that made me smile spookily enough it applies to me too Mark..
Here in the UK the speaker in the house of commons is currently causing a stir because he claimed £4000 for taxi's for his wife to go shopping. £17000 a year for a house that has no mortgage, and spend publically earned air miles on trips for his family. Strange thing is this man is in charge of an investagation into the openess of MP's earnings!
What's perhaps even stranger is that the vast amount of money he has claimed for all these things (in total over £75,000) is perfectly legal - duh no forgive me claiming money for a mortgage free house? Giving away publically earned air miles to his family. And hes' done nothing wrong ? ?

It does fairly boggle the mind doesn't it? And yet, the UK has no monopoly on such shenanigans - all politics, it seems, is rife with graft, corruption and sheer underhandedness!

I reckon you are right Mark, just so blinking annoying when they argue about the cost of prescription drugs to prolong the 'normal' life of alzhimer sufferers (spelt wrongly). Shoot the lot of them with stun guns and implant a heart and brain in them and we might be OK

Well, I'm sure that as most politicians are lawyers, and all lawyers must take Arrogance 101 and 201 in college, as well as Thievery 101, 201 and 301, it should come as no surprise.

You and me too, Dabbit, you and me too. I was horrified this morning to watch a horrific video of a U.S. Soldier throwing an innocent puppy off of a cliff to his death. You have to have a free membership to Youtube to see it and confirm your birthdate that you are old enough. But a little searching will find it for you. But be warned, it is disgusting, and this is no joke - these are the comments I left:
David Mortari, you are a souless creature and there is a special ring in hell awaiting you. You are a disgrace to the uniform and to the country and deserve to live a lot less than that innocent puppy whose life you so callously ended.
I am sickened.

I am a member of youtube and have one post there - however having seen on TV some of the things they put on there (and what you've just told me) it sickens me. Youtube don't seem to respond to reports either

You're right, of course, they are slow to respond. But in this instance, they do require that you verify that you're old enough to view this particular video - though how they can ensure that you're old enough is beyond me. At any rate, you have to jump through a hoop or two in order to view it - though I wouldn't recommend watching it myself. Made me want to meet the bloke in a dark alley, if you know what I mean.... grrrrr.......

I wish you could Mark did it have many comments? Why on earth would anyone do such a thing? I seriously wonder whether I am actually of this planet because I just can't get to grips with people today...

I know what you mean. Anyway, yes, if you Google the incident there are well over 2 million entries, the last time I looked. Some might even be mine, I don't know. But it does make my blood boil when someone abuses a child, elder or innocent animal. There's just no excuse. I did note in one of my comments on one of the sites, that I'm sure there's a special ring in Hell awaiting anyone who commits such acts!
