Why is it when I light a scented candle, it doesn't smell like anything, but when I put a frozen dinner in the microwave, it smells up my kitchen for hours? ?

Food odors do have a tendency to "linger". As for scented candles...you practically have to hold your face right over them, in order to smell anything! If you want to burn something pleasant smelling, and that will cover up those food odors...maybe you should try burning incense! There are MANY varieties available, and they are fairly inexpensive, too!

Wax 'melts' are THE best way to get a scents, not just in a room, but throughout your whole house. There's a local store which sells it by the scoop and believe me, it's the best buy for the $$. You need a 'tart burner'--then just put a small spoonful in the top and light a tealight candle in the bottom. You'll have a good-smelling house ALL DAY! I found their website: www.swancreekcandle.com/waxmelters.htmlI particularly like the Baked Apple Pie and Lemon Icebox Cookies--I don't cook or bake, but it sure makes it SMELL like I have been! They also make nice gifts with a tart-burner.

We have found that Lampe Bergers to be very effective at removing food odors, particularly onion and garlic, a couple of the more pungent odors one finds in a kitchen. We buy them at www.maisonbouquet.com

I love the smell of cinnamon, and it always smells wonderful in stores, but when I buy whatever they are selling...nothing! LOL. I had a candle burning for about an hour the other day with not much luck, but when I later nuked a frozen dinner, it smelled forever. I guess I wish they made frozen dinners that smelled like cinnamon!

If lampes berger are not your cup of aromatic tea, try an Illuminations shop, and if none are in your area, their website is www.illuminations.com They are a really nice store and have candles to burn.

I use Yankee Candles. They have the most wonderful and large variety of aromas. they also have a web site. Stores all over New England but I have also found the shops in California, Georgia, Florida, Arizona and Utah. There maybe more.

Like Marcia I love cinnamon and paid £5 for a candle (well my wife did for me)...Anyway another question is why they make such thick candles when only th emiddle bit burns down making it hard to light?

coffee is a great way to get rid of odors. Put a small amount in a pan and let it simmer til the odor is gone. I have added cinnamon to the water also. THe stema goes all through the house and the burned odor is gone in minutes.

I've seen Yankee candles in stores, but not in cinnamon. I just tried my candle again, and not only didn't it smell, when I put it out it stunk up the house. I think I'll try a Glade plug in. LOL. Thanks the the input, though.
