I can't stand this monitor much longer. It weighs so much that I can't move it. And one of the wheels on my pc desk broke off (or fell off. Either way, I can't lift moitor off or table up to fix wheel. Which doesn't work on carpet anyway. SO, I want to get a new (light weight) one. I think they are called "LCD"? Is that the same as Flat Panel? Are monitors in general compatible with all computers or do they have to match somehow.? I can buy online or at a nearby Staples. Any info/advice appreciated. It will be a low priced one. I don't need anything fancy. Just usable and more or less "portable" so I can set up my pc somewhere other than where it is now.

I'm not sure then Meme I live in the UK though we have a staples here too. I would imagine the best place is your local computer store where they'll be able to give you sound advice too

Meme, it sounds as though you need a new, lightweight flat-panel monitor - which are mostly LCD. You say you are in the U.S., are there electronics stores where you live in addition to Staples such as Best Buy, CompUSA, Circuit City and the like? Also, it is often possible to find a better deal online. If you'd tell me a bit more about your computer I would be happy to help find you a deal on a compatible monitor.

Mark, somewhere in this maze (to me) there is an explanation about why I had to change my name. So Me is no longer Tarradiddle. I am MeMe. I certainly do need an LCD Flat panel monitor. I just want to be sure I order the right kind. 1st I'm not sure if "Flat Panel" is the same as "LCD". Ordering online is easiest way for me. Staples is only store I can go to (to talk to real live person). The others are not within my driving limit.(self-limit. I don't like to drive, especially in crazy traffic of RI & MA.) OK. my pc is emachines. I bought it blindly because I was in NH at the time and only store was Wal-Mart. (2005) Has W-XP. Not sure since crash if it still has sp-2. Bit it's working fine. I just don't want to get something that's incompatible. I already have 3 dozen different cords/wires hanging around. And so far all fit where they are supposed to go.
