I was visiting some friends yesterday when I met one of their neighbors. The couple were very nice and recently retired at 56 years of age. (Not the story) As we were getting to chat a bit and getting to know one another, they started to tell where they had just spent the last 3 weeks. Not in a fancy hotel or resort. Not taking a world cruise. They were in New Orleans helping to rebuild the place. They weren't paid to do this great deed but rather spent their own money to be there helping.
They talked of the devastation and the great loss of homes, family and businesses. They talked of the struggles of the people of New Orleans and how there are so many people who have lost everything and yet are already working to rebuild their city and help one another. They talked about the poorest of the poor pitching right in to make a new day for others and not once complaining of their own status. They talked of how they admired those folks and the work they are doing.
Well I greatly admire them and all the other people that are giving of themselves for others.
My good story of the day. Surely others have GOOD NEWS to share.
