A quick question for Mark, 'how do I open a DOS window'? I tried typing three letter into the search box (cmd I think or something like that) which brought up a small black box. Is this a DOS window though?

Quite easy, Dabbit - just click on Start, then on Run, and then in the provided space, type in 'cmd' (without the quote marks). A little window will pop up - there is where you can type in DOS commands, so I think you were on the right track!

So Mark if I then type nslookup www.websiteurl.com would that affect my system or just come up with a list? Only I wrote to the email company who seem to have vanished and they suggested I open a DOS window and type nslookup www.oink.co.uk in

What that will give you Dabbit, is what they call a Non-authoritative answer. For Oink it returns an IP address of 212.21.97.80 and if you type that IP address into the browser address line it returns with a web page which states that the address is now registered to www.tgis.co.uk/registered.asp and further states that: This Domain has been Registered ....
... for one of our customers. Please contact us on +44 (0)1344 641627 to discuss this or another domain you might wish to register. We know our domains - if you need advice or pointers on how to snare that elusive domain, please contact us.
If you wish us to contact the customer who owns the domain you looked for, please let us know. We will need your Email address so that we can forward it to the current registrant of the domain on your behalf. In which they give you some instructions as to how to contact the domain owner. I don't know if this is what you were asking or not, Dabbit. On the other hand, if you type in the website domain directly as www.oink.co.uk/ you will get another website, which appears to be a sort of Internet Portal with Free Email, BBC News and all sorts of links. If I can help further, please let me know.

However when I type the url I get a different page which is blue and has a totally different look. The bloke suggested I type in the cmd thingy, which I did twice but my laptop froze so got a bit dubious about doing it. I guess I am going to have to cut my losses
