Here in the UK as you probably know we have a major annual event on November 5th called guy fawkes night. Basically its an evening of fireworks! Years ago it was just that an evening or two, these days it lasts for more than a week, and then some for new year and other celebrations.
I'm now kill joy and like to see the fireworks light up the sky, but Fudge is a funny creature and she gets petrified when the bangs light the sky. Of course the fireworks these days are much louder bigger and brighter than of yesteryear...
I think limit them to professional displays only...

It would be a shame if you couldn't have a few sparkers around the bonfire, but I also hate seeing the pets shaking with terror as the bangs go on and on, hour after hour.

Did you see Paul Ogrady on Friday jane he had the usual firemen on there and they said more people get hurt by sparklers than any other firework. That said I myself like a sparkler they are great fun if used correctly. I don't object to people having fun but I do object to the loudness that not only goes on way past midnight but for weeks on end... Of course had Guy Fawkes succeeded in his quest things might be different now...lol

My poor Charley gets to shaking all over when there are fireworks booming and cracking over and over, such as on our July 4th and New Year's celebrations. I have to hold him and comfort the poor little tyke. I don't understand why the authorities can't at least place time limits and/or noise limits on the things.

we do have limits in place over here - but it is impossible to police of course...For example no one under 18 can buy or let off fireworks, they can only be let off before 11pm (illegal afterwards). But how on earth can you prosecute someone for letting a firework off - how do you obtain the proof? I think they should reatrict the sale even further and perhaps do organised events only

Hear! Hear! I'd go along with that, Dave - organized events only! Ban the sale to anyone else.

5th November is the worst night of the year for me! My last dog, Jazz, never battered an eyelid with fireworks. But my current dog, Ollie, goes banana's! He's barking all night when there's bangs! It drives me, and no doubt him, absolutely mad! Glad it's all over with now!!

My Charley gets visibly upset as well, Louise. I hate for the poor little tyke to get so upset.

My Fudge goes all 'clingy' and sits right beside (on on top of if I let her) me, and keeps fidgeting all night until they stop...

Charley does too, Dabbit. I hate to see him get so skittish and nervous too. People can be so thoughtless!
