Yesterday my wife was given redundancy notice - the last day of trading is Christmas eve. It was a blow to say the least - we just thought the meeting was to cut some hours (bad enough). We are now in the process of creating a CV for her, which is not as easy as it used to be when we had all our memory!

Well she went for an interview at the hospital last Thursday morning and got a letter on Friday morning offering her the position... It is a full time position whereas she only wanted part time. But she is taking it and looking out for PT work

It'll be about 20 miles there and 20 back which in theory should take about half hour or so, but in reality takes about 1 hour + depending on the heavy traffic and bus reliability

Wow! That's quite a commute! When I was living in Washington, D.C. the commute was about that long and used to drive me barking mad sitting in traffic for that hour + twice a day. Hope she can handle it - I don't envy her that travel time.

It's what I used to do Mark and what my middle daughter does now. She'll be OK I'm sure but she will continue to look for PT work

I know Mark on the news lat night they were saying BT are cutting 10,000 jobs, another big company is cutting 650 jobs, and they are just the ones that make headline. Unemployment here in the UK is now nearly 2 million - I can remember it being 3 million at its worst some years ago

And yet, the answer lies with the greed of a few, who care more for their own coffers and to blazes with the common folk.
Speaking of 'jobless', with Charles turning 60, I hear that he qualifies for free bus transport and other benefits of having achieved that milestone. And here on this side of the pond, there are 'Hedge Fund' managers who made billions of dollars each who pay less in taxes, percentage wise, than I do. I think the world is topsy-turvy!

Yes I guess Charles would now qualify for a free bus pass officially (I actually said that to Miriam the other day), not that he would take it of course, unless he wanted to sell it on eBay?
