I'm not sure if you have Bernard Matthew products in the US but if you do I would urge you to boycott them, following a report on tonights local TV. Four workers of the company were caught on camera throwing live turkeys up in the air and then hitting them with a wooden stick (as in rounders/baseball). When the poor (often damaged turkeys) landed on the ground the men then started to kick them!!!

Outrageous! I don't know how mankind can be so uncaring of the living. However, when one thinks of it, look at how some treat our own kind in prisons. There has to be too many deranged people in position of power.
I would boycott that brand if it were here.

Yes, that's essentially what I said too, Louise, when I read it on dabbit's Forum. Actually when I saw your posting I said to myself, 'Self, I thought you put that on dabbit's forum?'. Then I saw your name. I think maybe I'll put an 'M' on my bartman shirt.... ;D

For a nation of animals lovers there is a surprising amount of cruelty that goes on, and just once in a while we, the wider public, gets to hear about it. We do have some power in these sort of situations, by boycotting those companies who pussyfoot around and suspend their staff, instead of sacking them outright.

It's a tragic example of how corporations can turn a blind eye to its employees activities as long as they enjoy a healty bottom line in their Income Statement. They need a good letter-writing and emailing campaign to increase the public's awareness and Bernard Matthews' awareness that the public will not put up with such maltreatment.

As the footage has been widely seen on TV here, from what Dabbit said, I think that BM will see a rapid down turn in their profits!

I've just seen the news updates on TV, and the RSPCA have been called in. Thankfully, and quite rightly so, the men in question have been suspended. I hope they charge them now for cruelty. They darn well should be!
