I agree with you, Dabbit. I tend to put my friends and family first as well. The older I get, I tend to push myself further back in priority as well too, it seems.

My family has always been in the number one position only second to my friends. I have sacrificed much for my children and would do it again but in a different way.

Well, truth be known, there are limits to putting others first, sometimes you have to put yourself first because you are doing others no favor doing otherwise. Take a simple example, flight attendants on airlines tell you that in event of a problem when oxygen masks fall in front of you, put yours on first before attending to others - otherwise you might be rendered unconscious and not able to help yourself or others either. Same is true about other aspects of life as well. If one always puts everyone else first in a 'mousy' sort of way, people will not have the respect for you that they should, etc. One must stand up for one's rights to retain that respect and to set an example for one's offspring, as well, IMHO.

Yes, I understand and agree with what you are saying. However, at one time I only knew one way to do things. I am lucky to have done some growing and changing.
