Yes, you can have an avatar. I can put it on for you, if you'd like...until you become more familiar with this stuff - no problem. I'd be glad to. Usually I'm sort of a night owl myself, but will go to bed soon. I'm not at home, but am at the other end of the state at my mother's, sitting with her until my sister returns Saturday. I have been having to get up at odd times during the night to help her out of bed to get to the restroom, etc. and am really dragging.

OMG. Technical stuff. I know it's Hewlett-Packard. I must have used the software (cd that came with it?) when I attached it to pc as printer. I will look around tomorrow for it. My desk is an awful mess.

OK will talk to you about the avatar some other time. Thanks. And if you notice, these posts are out of order because I am so slow I didn't know you answered me or even thought you would. Have a good night. Pam

Tell me about it. If I straightened out my desk I probably couldn't find anything for sure. Anyway, you have to click on start and find the HP program that came with the printer and look for the scanner instructions. Usually, like I say, it's an 'Acquire' instruction to start the scanner up - which means you first put the photo in face down and then say 'Acquire' to the program and it scans it in. Then you save it to your hard drive and then you have it on your computer to send, post, or whatever.

You have a good night too, Pam. I do need to get to bed as I don't know if the intercom will ring at 3 a.m. or whenever. Do try to join us in the Chat on Sunday and that's a good time to ask questions.

>:(SCHEESH! I went around in circles and around and around until I found what I was looking for. By now I have forgotten why I wanted to come here.Anyway, I would like to know .....uh.how do you find things on here? Is everything listed on Home, or an index?
Gee, what if I get lost in here forever and can't find a way out? Also, I said in another time that I saw where I could bookmark this thread. Either I forgot to do it or I don't know how to fjind what I bookmark.Just checking to see what Superscript is I think I've practised enough. Time for a break. I had a dream the other night that I wasn't sure if I was going to graduate from High School on time and I was very worried. It must have been this course I was flunking. I grraduated - on honor roll-50 yrs ago. I GOT IT - This is what they call second childhood. I don't like it very well.

First, the Board itself should indicate the category. When you first go into a Board there is a list of threads. Hopefully, the Subject line will indicate what that thread is about. This HelpDesk, for example, indicates in the Subject line what the subject is - here, for example, you can just practice, and it cannot interfere with any 'thread'. If you can't find a Subject you're looking for and need to ask a question, just start a new thread and ask a question, or send a PM, or Personal Message to whomever, and ask it. At the top of the page you'll see where it indicates whether you have any personal messages and how many are 'New' (unread). Click on that line and your personal messages will be listed. To send a PM to a particular person, click on their name somewhere and you will see their profile, plus where you can select 'Send Personal Message'.
Also, if you look at the top of the page, you'll see a line of icons below the exascape logo, one is a magnifying glass - that is a 'Search' option. Select it and you can search for something. Just type in the term you want to search for and hit your 'Enter' key.
Bookmarking. The bookmarking feature on the forum is to keep track of particular threads, etc and be advised when there's been a reply to it or something. I haven't used it so I can't verify that it is very efficacious. However, this is what I recommend.
Assuming you're using Internet Explorer, click on 'Favorites', then on 'Organize Favorites', and finally, on 'Create Folder'. A little popup will display with 'New Folder' highlighted in Blue. Type over that with 'exascape bookmarks'. Now, everytime you want to save a place, just click on 'Favorites', scroll down to 'exascape bookmarks', click on it and scroll down to the topic you wish - you'll go directly to it. However, if you haven't logged in yet, you might have to do that first.

I have a few more problems. 1. I tried to start a new thread on HELP and I don't think it worked.. 2. I read the post about uploading an image, etc. I have lots of photos and images in my pc (various places. I wasn't sure what I was doing but I can usually find them>) Anyway, I didn't understand the instructions. Although maybe I will after a little more practice on my pc. 3. About bookmarking - I read that too and I don't know if I have outlook express or whatever you said. It took me months to figure out what a "browser" is. Actually I don't understand what it "is" I just know they have different names but they get me to the internet. ANd I know I don't like IE but I don't know if I have to have it or f I can get rid of it somehow. I chose Verizon as my ISP, in a package deal with my phone. But it seems to be both Verizon and Yahoo and it gets me confused. Sometimes Microsoft seems to be in it too and I don't like that. I used to have msn and didn't like it. I know I must sound like an idiot and a whiner. But I feel like I did when I had to take a course Trigonometry (now there's an English word I don't know how to spell). Anyway, I took the course twice and it was always in a foreign language, I was sure. It didn't sound like English to me. Same with pc's now. I'm sure that someday people are going to be laughing at how "primitive and clumsy" pc's were in 2000"s. Oh yes, I do know how to "bookmark" a page. They are in my toolbar (?) on top. I have way too many. I tend to bookmark everything because I'm afraid I won't be able to get back to it. Would you believe that I don't talk much in person? It's really true. But I love to type on the pc. Now it's time for a break, though.

P,S, I just reread the last answer and it was Internet Explorer you assumed I had. And it keeps popping up with error messages so it's here someplace. But I don't have anywhere that says "Favorites" that I know of. Pam

To Start a new thread you have to be at the beginning of the board. Like Help Desk, where you see all of the various threads, such as "Changing Desktop Icons-or Making 'em", "MSCONFIG", etc... At the top, just after you have entered the board - this is the list of 'Threads'. At the top are some tool buttons. One of them says 'New Thread' and has a small picture of a folder and a 'plus' sign next to it. Just click on it and you will get a new window in which you put the Subject name in the Subject line and just start typing in the Message box. All else is much like when you are making a 'Reply' to something.
For right now don't worry about Outlook Express - one thing at a time. It doesn't have anything to do with bookmarking anyway. Right now, just master the concept of threads, starting to them and replying to them. Remember, this was new to everyone one of us at one time or another.

It's good as it gives you the option to 'shrink' the image while keeping the ratio...

I think it's a good bit of software. Perhaps we can have a dialogue just on it and develop a sort of 'handbook'.
I'm already working on a newer release of it.

I think we talked about this in another thread, but yes, I think that's a good idea. I'm working on the latest release of the toolbar now.

Maxine is her avatar, Dabbit - it refers to the 'Maxine' cartoons from whence we made her avatar.
Tarradiddle, you have to change your avatar in the profile, but if you want me to I can change it for you - just let me know what you want to use instead and I'll be glad to help.
