A week or so ago I got a phone call from a mystery shopping company asking me to do a mystery shop in a local store. At the time I said no, and forgot all about it. However, arriving home today form town there was a message on the answer machine informing me the fee had now doubled for the mystery shop as they were 'desperate' and had a lack of male shoppers in the area. I caved in and said I would do the shop, so I now have 48 hours to do the task and submit my feedback! I just wonder why I never get a 'mystery shop' for a luxury weekends away...

Are they for real? Try the first one then see where that takes you. Who knows you might have hit a gold mine. Some stores pay well for that sneaky service. Don't forget to really put the associates at the store through their paces.

I do Alex, I hold nothing back if service is bad they know about it and similarly if its good. I did the double cash one, and have just spent my 'earnings' from my on line surveys, as one of our supermarket "Every little helps'

Well, I've done a lot of mystery shops, and I can say that after a while, it gets to be second nature. And, if you pick and choose properly, they can be rewarding and even fun. The secret is to remember as much detail about the encounter, the people involved as possible. Wait until you're back outsides and make as many notes as possible - that helps. Also, follow instructions to the letter, the last thing these companies want is for the mystery shopper (some call it 'secret shopper') to be found out.

I would like that as well, Dabbit. There are also mystery shops on ocean voyages and cruises. I would really fancy that!
